Weigh Your Habits

Most of our goals tend to have a sense of finality. In the fitness realm I am often tasked with helping others reach a specific weight loss number, cholesterol, blood pressure ratio, body fat percentage. It would be misleading to say those numbers don't matter, but, how much weight do they carry?

Have you ever heard of the term yo-yo dieting? This term represents a group of people who invest in weight loss through nutritional means only to gain the weight back (usually more than they loss.) The weight gain is unintentional but there is an underlying issue. The implications of this diet reach biochemical levels. You risk long term health deficiencies including gall bladder stones, diabetes, reduced immune and increased risk of cancer.

Refocus your energy on the right things. Are you really doing everything you can to succeed? Are you consistent in your approach? Avoid the aforementioned pitfalls of getting caught up in the numbers or what others look like in comparison. Create habits that are simple and effective and over time you will achieve what you set out to accomplish. Happy Monday.
