I have been coaching in some facet for 10 years. My maturation in coaching has been a result of mentorships, self reflection and experience. This book solidified many of my ideologies. I highly recommend all those who have the privilege of influencing youth athletes (athletes in general ) to read this book.
Joe Ehrmann does an amazing highlighting the fact that athletes require more than just a transactional experience. Most coaches are hyper focused on victory, legacy, and clout. The objective of a coach should be much more impactful. Our obligation is to create productive members of society fueled by Integrity, empathy, love ,respect dedication and passion. The beauty of sports is that competition and teamwork are ideal motivators for said traits. If we coaches understand and respect our roles as transformational mentors our society as a whole will benefit. Everyone would benefit from having someone in their life who is honest with them, encourages them to do their best and believes in them.
